Our History
The Northfield Dairy Queen continues to serve customers proudly since 1953. Manning Boddy built the establishment (Northfield Dairy Queen) which is in its current location today. Mr and Mrs. Boddy operated the business until 1962. They headed off to Florida leased the building to Robert Manderfeld. “Buster Bar”. Bob purchased the building in 1969 and continued to operate the business for 54 years until his passing in 2016. His children Craig Manderfeld and Robin (Manderfeld) Svendsen, and Robert’s General manager Joni Steele for 28 years at the time 2016 continues to operate/own the Northfield Dairy Queen.
The Dairy Queen has seen numerous changes during Bob’s tenure. The Dairy Queen introduced the Blizzard in 1985 to a rousing success. In the 1990’s, Bob decided to add on to the existing Dairy Queen building. He added a new indoor lobby in front of the traditional walk-up window. This transitioned into an area for convenience of picking out your own cakes and novelties while keeping warm and dry during those off days. Bob also added on to the southside of the building with a customer convenient drive-thru for those cold and rainy days. It has been a successful change.
The Northfield Dairy Queen is honored to continue serving our customers. We are blessed to be a part of the strong Northfield Community. Thank you for your continued support!
